Overview

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are required to be developed by laboratories for the safe handling of their hazardous operations and materials. It is required that written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) be developed by the lab to describe work practices, hazard controls (e.g. fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, etc), personnel protective equipment (PPE), emergency procedures (spills, accidental exposures, etc) and waste disposal necessary for the safe conduct of work to be performed.

Standard Operating Procedure template can be used, or researchers can create their own Standard Operating Procedures.

The Safety Guidance Documents below have been developed to assist lab personnel in the preparation of lab specific SOPs.
