User Responsibility

Electric equipment are installed and used for its intended use only as per the manufacturer requirements and specifications as well as KAUST requirements and standards

Ensuring the that the equipment is compatible with working environment in the lab as well as the expected changes in the work environment

Writing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that includes: general specifications, working conditions, safe use and operation, emergency shutdown, required training, expected hazard and risk assessment, users names, important contacts … etc

The equipment is tagged with KAUST asset number and registered under the Research Equipment Database

Apply the periodic maintenance and/or preventive maintenance protocols, and the service to be conducted only qualified and authorized personnel (i.e. LEM)

Document the maintenance service

Any equipment that is not functioning properly or showing any signs of malfunction should be:

  • Disconnected from the electricity
  • Labeled with “ Do not use – Equipment under maintenance ” and make sure to communicate the massage to the lab users
  • Report it to LEM for maintenance and technical support
