One of the best ways for one to enjoy the Red Sea, is indisputably by recreational fishing.
The Kaust Fishing Club is composed by a group of fishing lovers that use mainly the recreational angling method, a very sustainable kind of fishing compared to other methods, due to the low-impact, exceedingly selective catching gear used and the high survival rate of the fish released.
The Red Sea is perfect for those who want to engage into big game popping, jigging, trolling and even fly fishing! KAUST Saltwater Anglers was created with the aim of bringing together KAUST community members through on-campus fishing activities to promote knowledge of marine biodiversity at KAUST.
Fishers must adhere to the designated fishing areas outlined on the provided map. It is prohibited to capture, kill, feed, or fish within the KAUST Nature Conservation Area and other restricted areas (shown in map). Additionally, fishers are expected to avoid high environmental sensitivity zones, such as coral reefs, seaweed beds, and seagrass meadows. Please be vigilant for breeding, reproducing, and incubation areas of marine wildlife, including all forms of marine species, from fish to invertebrates.
We strongly recommend practicing catch and release in allowed areas. This helps protect biodiversity and ensures the campus fishing experience remains sustainable for future KAUST community members.
