It is important to keep your work areas clean in order to reduce the spread of respiratory viruses. When cleaning and disinfecting remember to use products appropriate for the surface and read the label which contains information for safe and effective use of the product.
In an effort to Keep KAUST Safe, the housekeeping team has changed their cleaning routines. There are assigned staff in your building working throughout the day regularly cleaning high-touch surfaces such as door handles and elevator buttons. All office desks are cleaned every evening, unless other arrangements have been made.
The products that are being used are effective against a wide variety of bacteria and viruses and have been reviewed by Health, Safety and Environment.
You are asked to disinfect your own desk if you require additional cleaning. Remember to use appropriate disinfectants for the respective surface. To help with this decision, Health, Safety and Environment has a supplies list that includes products such as sanitizing wipes, hand soap, hand sanitizers and paper towels.
Avoid sharing desks and workstations wherever possible, but if there is a business need the desk and other high-touch sufaces (e.g. keyboard, mouse, touch screens, phone) must be disinfected by the user at the beginning and completion of their work.
Disinfection of high-touch items and surfaces on shared desks can be done by using a moistened wipe/paper towel that contains atleast 60% alcohol. Sani-Cloth 70% Wipes (SAP #7000005917) are available in the chemical warehouse.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the use of any disinfectants.
